SpaceX Discloses $655 Million in Bitcoin Holdings Amid IPO Filing
SpaceX, the pioneering space exploration and technology company founded by Elon Musk, has made a significant disclosure in its IPO prospectus (S-1 filing). According to the document, SpaceX holds an impressive amount of Bitcoin, totaling approximately $655 million in value.
The acquisition cost of these coins was around $35,000 per BTC, with the company holding 18,712 Bitcoins. This substantial investment has seen a significant increase in value, with the current market price putting the valuation at around $1.45 billion.
This proactive disclosure marks an important milestone for SpaceX's financial transparency and recognition of Bitcoin as a legitimate asset class. Following the collapse of Luna, a cryptocurrency that had a close relationship with the company's investment decisions, SpaceX reduced its holdings but maintained a significant portion of its assets.
