Hyperliquid Surpasses Dogecoin in Market Capitalization
Hyperliquid's HYPE token has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market, surpassing Dogecoin in terms of market capitalization. According to CoinMarketCap data, HYPE has taken the No. 9 spot, with a market capitalization of approximately $16.03 billion. This marks a notable achievement for Hyperliquid, as its token has been gaining traction over the past few weeks.
The surge in HYPE's value can be attributed to several factors, including the token's trading activity and aggressive buyback structure. As mentioned earlier, 99% of fees generated by Hyperliquid go towards buying back HYPE tokens for its Perps platform, which has contributed significantly to the token's growth. Additionally, institutional-product momentum has played a crucial role in HYPE's rally, with the launch of various ETFs offering spot HYPE exposure.
SoSoValue data shows that the 21Shares Hyperliquid ETF and Bitwise Hyperliquid ETF have attracted significant net inflows since their launch, with $74.91 million in cumulative net inflows for the former and $89.20 million in combined net assets for both products. This level of institutional support has helped drive demand for HYPE, leading to its current ranking.
While some may view this development as a significant upset, it's essential to note that market capitalization rankings can be sensitive to price feeds and circulating-supply methodology. Nevertheless, the optics are difficult to ignore, and Hyperliquid's ascent reflects a different market preference – one that favors tokens attached to venues with visible usage, fee generation, and direct value-accrual narratives.
