Victims Testify in Cryptocurrency Fraud Case Against Young Woman

A Maltese court heard the testimony of several alleged victims of a large-scale cryptocurrency fraud scheme on Thursday.

The victims claimed they were deceived into revealing sensitive financial information, which was then used to transfer funds through cryptocurrency channels. The suspects allegedly posed as bank officials and contacted the victims via phone, claiming that there had been suspicious activity on their accounts.

One victim described how she received a call from a woman claiming to be from Bank of Valletta's customer service department. The caller warned her of a potential security breach and instructed her to follow a link to a website that appeared to be the bank's official login page. The victim was then asked for her six-digit passcode, which she provided.

Unfortunately, it later turned out that this had been a phishing scam, and the victim had unknowingly revealed sensitive financial information. Similar incidents were described by other victims, who all reported receiving calls from individuals claiming to be bank officials.
