For nearly a decade, retail investors have played a crucial role in driving demand for digital assets. However, recent data suggests that their focus is shifting towards traditional equities.
A report from market-maker Wintermute analyzed JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s data and found that since late 2024, retail investment has been steadily moving towards the stock market. This trend accelerated sharply after October's crypto crash.
The shift marks a break from previous years when stocks and digital assets moved in tandem as twin bets on risk appetite. As a result, the speculative demand that once concentrated in crypto is being redirected towards equities.
