Thai Authorities Issue Arrest Warrant for Chinese Crypto Fugitive Wang Yicheng

Thai authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Chinese businessman Wang Yicheng over allegations of theft and computer crimes related to illegal cryptocurrency mining. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) claims Wang was involved in a network that laundered money from scams and online gambling through illicit crypto mining operations.

According to the DSI, Wang's name was linked to an account that received millions of dollars from a wallet associated with scam operations. A Reuters investigation found that this wallet sent at least $9.1 million between 2021 and 2022 to Wang's account.

The US Department of Justice seized about $500,000 in cryptocurrency from Wang's account in June 2023, stating it was linked to a digital-asset fraud case involving funds stolen from a victim in Massachusetts.
