ZKsync has confirmed that it will be shutting down its Lite network on May 4, bringing an end to Ethereum's first zero-knowledge rollup. This decision follows the launch of ZKsync Era, a more advanced zkEVM designed for executing smart contracts arbitrarily.
The team behind ZKsync emphasizes that the shutdown is part of a planned consolidation effort within the ZK Stack ecosystem. As such, other products in this ecosystem will not be affected by the deprecation of Lite.
Approximately $33.9 million remains bridged on the network at present, with a significant portion held in stablecoins and ETH. Users are urged to withdraw their assets before May 4 for convenience, although funds not withdrawn by that date can still be claimed indefinitely.
