OpenClaw Bans Crypto Mentions Amid Naming Dispute and Token Frenzy

OpenClaw is an open-source AI framework that allows developers to power autonomous agents capable of complex digital tasks. The project has gained popularity worldwide, but its rise hasn't been smooth. OpenClaw was initially launched as 'Clawdbot,' which was later rebranded due to a trademark warning from AI giant Anthropic.

After settling on the name 'OpenClaw,' the developer, Peter Steinberger, faced a naming dispute and a token frenzy. A fake Solana token called CLAWD was launched, and it surged to a $16 million market cap within hours before collapsing over 90% when Steinberger publicly denied any association with it.

As a result of this incident, OpenClaw's Discord channel now enforces a strict ban on any mention of 'Bitcoin' or crypto. While the project continues to thrive, the ban serves as a clear reminder that the developer will not engage in any discussions about cryptocurrency.
