MegaETH Aims for Real-Time Execution with Ambitious Performance Claims

MegaETH is an Ethereum Layer 2 network that has gained attention for its ambitious performance claims. In contrast to most other L2s, which focus on throughput improvements over Ethereum's mainnet, MegaETH aims to achieve real-time execution, with a target of 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) and 1-millisecond block times.

The project's architecture is based on a heterogeneous node model, which separates block production from verification. This approach allows for the use of highly optimized nodes for transaction processing, freeing up other nodes to focus on state management and read requests.

MegaETH's proof-of-concept has been demonstrated on its testnet, but the main challenge lies in scaling it to meet its ambitious targets. If successful, MegaETH could enable a wide range of applications that are currently impractical or impossible on slower blockchains, such as real-time gaming and high-frequency DeFi strategies.
