A significant development has taken place in the Bitcoin network with the movement of $1.47 million worth of Satoshi-era cryptocurrency. The wallet in question has been dormant since August 2010, making it nearly 16 years since any activity was seen.

The transfer occurred on May 31, 2026, at block 951828, mined at 05:14 UTC. Galaxy Research flagged the event as an important note-worthy development in the Bitcoin network. The wallet's history dates back to Bitcoins earliest mining era when CPU mining was common and only a small circle of enthusiasts ran the network.

The movement of 20 BTC does not match the profiles of likely Satoshi clusters, according to Alex Thorn, head of firmwide research at Galaxy. This suggests that the wallet is not connected to Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.
