ORE Protocol Hit by Staking Bug Allowing Hackers to Claim $2,215 in SOL Tokens
The ORE Protocol team has confirmed a bug in its staking smart contract on the Solana blockchain, allowing hackers to claim around $2,215 worth of SOL tokens unfairly. The bug was present in the isolated smart contract and was not exploited further due to quick security measures.
The affected protocol is ORE's proof-of-work-like mining system, where users stake their SOL or ORE tokens to generate yields. However, the team ensured that 'All user deposits are safe' and that there is no risk of loss of funds.
The bug was located in the smart contract code for the staking program, allowing hackers to inflate their recorded stake balance without actually depositing tokens. This has resulted in unfair yield distribution, with 25.5 SOL tokens being unfairly claimed by hackers.
