Tether Introduces Multichain Self-Custodial Wallet for Global Financial Inclusion
Tether, a leading stablecoin issuer, has launched its self-custodial wallet, tether.wallet. This new wallet is designed to provide users with a secure and user-friendly way to store and manage their digital assets.
The wallet supports Bitcoin, USDT, USAT, and XAUT across multiple blockchains at launch, including Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, Arbitrum, and the Lightning Network. One of the key features of the wallet is its ability to pay fees in the asset being transferred, eliminating the need for users to acquire or hold separate tokens for gas.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the company's objective with the wallet is to remove complexity while preserving the properties that make digital assets valuable. Users should be able to send value as easily as sending a message without relying on intermediaries and giving up control of their assets.
