Polygon Acquires Coinme in Bid to Become Profitable Payment Company

Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, announced workforce reductions and organizational restructuring as part of the company's acquisition of Coinme. The goal is to achieve profitability by 2027, with the deal valued at over $250 million.

The integration aims to create a 'payment company utilizing blockchain' from its current status as a 'blockchain-based service organization.'

This move is crucial in addressing one of the biggest barriers to cryptocurrency adoption: regulatory compliance and cashing out to fiat currency. By combining Coinme's remittance operator license with Polygon's existing stablecoin infrastructure, users will have a seamless on-ramp and off-ramp environment.
