Solo Bitcoin Miner Beats Odds to Secure $210,000 Block Reward
A recent streak of improbable solo-mining successes continues with a solo bitcoin miner securing a $210,000 block reward. This achievement is remarkable considering the miner's relatively low computing power and the odds against them.
The miner, connected to the anonymous solo mining pool CKpool.org, used roughly 230 terahashes per second of computing power to validate block 943,411. This represents a mere 0.00002% of the total estimated hashrate of the Bitcoin network, which is approximately 1 zetahash per second.
This win marks the first solo block secured on CKpool since February 28, ending a 33-day drought. The miner's success highlights the unpredictability and randomness inherent in solo mining. Even with such low odds, some miners manage to secure blocks due to sheer luck or a combination of factors.
