Standard Chartered's SC Ventures Invests in Leading Crypto Market Maker GSR
Standard Chartered's SC Ventures has made a significant move in the crypto market by investing in GSR, a leading market maker, at a valuation of $1 billion. This investment marks the first external strategic shareholder for GSR since its founding in 2013.
The partnership between SC Ventures and GSR aims to develop a compliant and scalable digital asset market infrastructure for institutional clients. This will enable seamless trading and investing in cryptocurrencies while adhering to regulatory requirements.
GSR has been expanding its services, including token lifecycle management, which enables the creation, listing, and trading of tokens on various exchanges. The firm has also recently entered ETF issuance with its first product, the GSR Crypto Core3 ETF, being the first actively managed multi-asset crypto fund with staking enabled.
Standard Chartered's SC Ventures is actively building its digital asset ecosystem, with plans for a $250 million digital asset services fund. This investment in GSR reinforces the focus on building institutional ecosystems with deeper liquidity and more resilient market activity.
