SharpLink Sees Opportunity in Ethereum Price Dip
SharpLink has made its first Ethereum (ETH) purchase in eight months as Ether traded near its lowest level of 2023. The company bought 5,000 ETH worth approximately $7.85 million from FalconX, a cryptocurrency exchange.
This move comes after a significant drop in Ethereum's price, which fell to about $1,537 on Thursday, its lowest this year. SharpLink's total ETH balance now stands at 876,285, valued at around $1.4 billion at current prices.
The company's average purchase price for ETH is near $3,609, leaving it with an unrealized loss of approximately $1.71 billion. SharpLink CEO Joseph Chalom previously mentioned three potential catalysts for Ethereum's growth: clearer U.S. crypto regulations, a return of risk appetite, and increased adoption of tokenized real-world assets.
SharpLink is expected to enter the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indexes on June 29, following FTSE Russell reconstitution. The inclusion in these indices may attract more passive and active investors, potentially broadening SharpLink's shareholder base and improving access to capital markets.
