Cryptocurrency Market Sees Selloff Amid Record Equities
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a period of heightened volatility, with Bitcoin's price falling below $76K. The decline comes despite record highs in equities, raising concerns about the overall health of the market.
According to CoinShares, global investment in crypto funds fell by $1.467 billion last week, hitting its lowest level since January. This decline is significant, as it indicates a deepening and broadening flight from risky assets. Bitcoin investments fell by $1.315 billion, while Ethereum investments fell by $223 million.
The total outflow of $2.54 billion over two weeks suggests that investors are becoming increasingly risk-averse. Spot Bitcoin trading volumes have also fallen by 10% over the past week, and futures open interest has dropped by 3.5%. This decrease in activity is a concerning trend for market participants.
