Malaysian Police Dismantle Migrant Trafficking Syndicate and Seize Bitcoin Mining Equipment

Malaysian authorities have cracked down on a migrant smuggling ring, arresting 40 undocumented Indonesians and a suspected trafficker.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of April 4 in the Segari area, was carried out by the Manjung police chief's team after receiving intelligence tips from locals.

The migrants were allegedly being transported to designated locations, with a local woman believed to have played a key role in facilitating their movement. The case is currently being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (Atipsom).

In a separate operation, police conducted a joint raid with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) to tackle illegal bitcoin mining activities.

During the raid, authorities discovered an illicit bitcoin mining setup at four premises, seizing 46 machines and detaining four individuals. The offenders may face fines of up to RM100,000 or imprisonment for up to three years.
