Nigel Farage's Reform UK Breaks Donation Records Amid Cryptocurrency Controversy
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has emerged as a powerhouse in political fundraising, outpacing its main rivals in the third quarter. The party's financial success is largely attributed to substantial contributions from billionaire crypto investors.
Among these contributors are Christopher Harborne, a British-born crypto investor based in Thailand, who donated over £3 million, and Ben Delo, the Hong Kong-based co-founder of BitMex, who contributed £4 million. In total, Reform raised an impressive £9.3 million in the first quarter, compared to the Labour Party's £4 million and the Conservative Party's £4.2 million.
Reform UK's success is further highlighted by its top performance in recent local elections and dominating national opinion polls. However, these financial gains have attracted increasing scrutiny. British lawmakers are poised to introduce restrictions on cryptocurrency donations, while Farage faces investigations over a £5 million donation from Harborne.
