UK Targets Russian Cryptocurrency Networks in Sanctions Effort
The UK government has taken another step in its efforts to counter Russia's economic influence, targeting cryptocurrency platforms and financial networks that have been used to evade sanctions.
According to officials, these 'shadow financial systems' are crucial components of the war economy, enabling Moscow to route funds, finance procurement, and exploit foreign banking systems.
The measures announced on Tuesday aim to freeze assets and bar UK firms from processing payments and holding correspondent banking ties with the targeted entities.
