Ripple CTO Backs Cross-Chain Strategy with Wrapped XRP Integration
Ripple CTO David Schwartz has expressed his support for integrating Wrapped XRP (wXRP) on multiple layer 1 blockchains, including Solana, Ethereum, Optimism, and HyperEVM.
This move is part of the company's strategy to enhance cross-chain capabilities and DeFi functionality, allowing users to transfer value and access financial services across different platforms. wXRP is a fully compliant, fully backed token designed to provide users with low-risk, regulated methods for using their assets in cross-chain DeFi protocols.
Schwartz emphasized that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) will remain the primary origin and regulated source of the asset, serving as the 'anchor' that makes cross-chain transactions possible. This move is seen as a positive step towards building utility and expanding XRP's reach in high-throughput blockchains.
