Spacecoin Develops Blockchain-Enabled Satellite Constellation
Space-based data centers are emerging as a practical alternative to traditional server farms, allowing for the harnessing of abundant solar energy and natural cooling. However, these centers require a reliable, open communications network to function efficiently.
Spacecoin, a decentralized internet network, is addressing this challenge by building a constellation of blockchain-enabled small satellites in low-Earth orbit. The project aims to establish a shared, interoperable layer for the orbital economy and enable efficient exchange of information between disparate assets in orbit.
The network will also provide a neutral protocol for routing data and securely executing transactions between compute nodes in orbit. By decentralizing the network, Spacecoin ensures no single service provider or government exclusively controls access.
