OCC Considers Review of Trump-Backed Crypto Venture's Bank Charter Application

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has announced that it will entertain a request to review the bank charter application of World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture backed by President Donald Trump's family.

At a recent Senate Banking Committee hearing, OCC Chief Jonathan Gould stated that he would consider allowing senior members of Congress to confidentially examine an unredacted copy of the company's application.

The move comes as lawmakers raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest and lack of transparency in the application process. World Liberty Financial filed for a national trust bank charter in January, which would allow it to expand certain operations under federal supervision.
