Global Crypto ATM Numbers Plummet Amid Market Shift

The growth of the cryptocurrency market has led to an increase in the number of automated teller machines (ATMs) offering digital asset transactions. However, recent figures from Coin ATM Radar indicate that the industry is facing a downturn, with a net loss of 597 machines this year.

The global count of crypto ATMs edged close to the 40,000 mark this month, but data recorded on March 29, 2026, reveals a decline in installations. The year opened with a drop of 139 crypto ATMs, followed by the addition of 231 new installations in February.

Geographic data from Coin ATM Radar shows that the majority of machines are located in North America, with the United States leading the pack at 30,247 units, representing 77.7% of the total. The top ten global operators collectively oversee 30,450 machines, representing 78.2% of the total.

The industry's leading provider, Bitcoin Depot, operates a significant share of the remaining machines, with 9,246 units under its control. The company holds a commanding market share of 23.8%, followed by Coinflip and Athena Bitcoin.
