Thai Crypto Wallet Processed Over $122M in 10 Months, Says Interpol
A Thai crypto wallet linked to a 20-year-old suspect processed over $122.5 million in 10 months, according to Interpol.
The case was part of a 97-country operation that resulted in 5,811 arrests and the interception of $293 million in illicit assets.
Cross-chain token swaps were used to obscure the financial trail, making it harder for investigators to trace funds before they reached an off-ramp tied to a real-world identity.
The Financial Action Task Force reported that cross-chain activity can fall outside some counter-illicit-finance controls and called for law-enforcement and supervisory bodies to build expertise in cross-chain mechanics.
