SEC and Justin Sun Settle Tron Case for $10 Million
The long-running dispute between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Tron founder Justin Sun has finally come to an end with a $10 million settlement.
Under the agreement, Rainberry Inc., a company controlled by Sun and closely linked to the BitTorrent protocol, will pay the civil penalty in exchange for the SEC dropping all remaining claims against Sun personally, as well as claims involving the Tron DAO and the BitTorrent Foundation.
The resolution removes regulatory uncertainty from several projects tied to Sun, allowing them to operate without legal distractions. This development arrives at a time when the U.S. government appears to be reassessing its broader approach to cryptocurrency oversight.
