Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding cryptocurrency listing scams. These scammers claim to manage project listings on Binance, often claiming to work for the company or be acquaintances of CZ.

CZ has distanced himself from these individuals and plans to blacklist them in order to promote user security and protect funds. This comes as crypto-related fraud continues to rise, with recent data showing a 25% increase in total losses.

The methods used by scammers include social engineering, which accounted for 65% of all crypto scams, and AI-powered scams such as deepfakes impersonating exchange executives and celebrities, which saw a 700% increase in 2025. Impersonation scams also grew by 1,400% year over year.

The rise in crypto-related fraud has led to increased government action, with Brazil announcing plans to direct proceeds from crypto-related crimes towards public projects and strategic reserves. Other nations implementing similar agendas include the US, UK, China, and North Korea.
