Coinbase Expands into Traditional Markets with Full Stock Trading Access
Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has rolled out full stock trading access to all eligible US users. This move marks an expansion of the company's offerings beyond cryptocurrencies, allowing customers to buy and sell US stocks and ETFs in a single account.
The feature is made possible through Coinbase Capital Markets, which enables 24/5 trading on thousands of equities with zero commission. Users can fund trades with USD or USDC and purchase fractional shares starting at one dollar.
As part of the launch, Coinbase has partnered with Yahoo Finance to streamline asset discovery and execution. The integration allows users to move from researching an asset on Yahoo Finance to executing a trade on Coinbase with one click.
Coinbase plans to expand 24/5 trading to more equities in the coming months and is exploring tokenized stocks, which would enable onchain collateralization and instant payments backed by equity holdings. The company's goal is to bridge traditional markets and digital assets under its Everything Exchange vision.
