Bitcoin Price Rally Gains Momentum as Institutions and Whales Pile In
The Bitcoin price rally has broad-based support from institutions, whales, and options traders, with over $700 million in investor money flowing into spot bitcoin funds across five trading days.
This influx of capital is a significant contrast to the severe selling pressure and record redemptions experienced earlier in the summer, when investors withdrew $7.5 billion between mid-May and June, according to Tagus Capital.
Onchain wallet data shows that long-term holders are also buying coins, with addresses holding BTC for at least six months increasing their holdings. This is a positive sign for Bitcoin's medium-term prospects, as noted by Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro.
Glassnode notes that the market looks more balanced now than it did a month ago, with long-term conviction providing support while speculative participation remains contained. However, there are still risks to consider, including U.S. Treasury bond issuances, which could drain liquidity from the system and weigh on risk assets.
