Moscow Exchange Prepares for Cryptocurrency Trading in Russia

The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) is gearing up to become one of the first major financial institutions to offer cryptocurrency trading in Russia.

According to Viktor Zhidkov, the CEO of MOEX's operator, testing for cryptocurrency trading will begin in early summer, with full-scale trading expected by the end of the year.

The exchange is currently developing a concept for cryptocurrency trading and is waiting for Russian authorities to finalize the country's comprehensive regulatory framework.

MOEX has been trading Bitcoin futures since last year and launched indices for several altcoins in May, further expanding its presence in the crypto market.

Other financial institutions, such as Sberbank, are also joining the race to offer regulated crypto services, with plans to provide retail and corporate clients with cryptocurrency exchange, storage, credit, and tokenization services through a platform called Web3Gate.
