Flutterwave Partners with Tempo to Enhance Cross-Border Payments

Flutterwave, Africa's largest payments startup, has announced a significant development in its bid to enhance the efficiency of international transactions. The company has partnered with Tempo, a blockchain network specifically designed for stablecoin transactions, to expand its existing payments ecosystem.

The integration of Tempo as a settlement layer will enable Flutterwave to support wallet-to-wallet transfers using dollar-backed stablecoins USDC and USDT, allowing individuals and businesses to move money across borders through digital currencies. This development reflects a broader shift among fintechs towards building stablecoin-based payment infrastructure to reduce the cost and complexity of cross-border transactions.

Tempo's appeal lies in its features tailored for enterprise use, including support for stablecoin-denominated transactions, ISO 20022-compatible payment messaging, batch payments, scheduled transactions, and fee sponsorship. The blockchain network has already processed over 25 million transactions with a 94% success rate since its launch in March.
