US and Iran Resume Diplomatic Talks as Crypto Markets Watch for Sanctions Shift
The US and Iran are set to resume diplomatic negotiations on Monday, following high-level talks in Switzerland that have produced momentum and rippled across crypto markets. The upcoming technical round builds on the June 22 session in Bürgenstock, where negotiators spent nearly 18 hours hammering out a roadmap for reaching a final deal within 60 days. This process has already seen significant progress, with working groups established to focus on nuclear matters, sanctions, and dispute resolution.
The framework laid out by the Islamabad Memorandum signed on June 17 calls for the US to waive sanctions on Iran for 60 days starting from June 22. The waiver also allows for the resumption of UN nuclear inspections, de-escalation around Lebanon, and maintaining open navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan have described the outcome as 'encouraging progress.' Technical meetings on nuclear issues and sanctions are expected to continue in Switzerland after Monday's session. The next substantive round is anticipated for June 28-29.
