Scammers Prey on Crypto Investors with False Promises of Easy Gains
Cryptocurrency investments have become a target for scammers who promise high returns with little risk.
Scammers use fake investment platforms, fraudulent websites and high-pressure sales tactics to convince people to hand over their money.
They may claim to be an experienced investor or financial adviser, promising guaranteed profits or exclusive access to an investment that is only available for a limited time.
One West Virginia scam survivor reported losing approximately $25,000 after investing in what appeared to be a legitimate online investment opportunity.
