CoW Swap, a decentralized exchange aggregator, recently fell victim to a DNS hijacking attack that redirected users to a potentially malicious site. The company's team detected the issue at 14:54 UTC on Tuesday and immediately posted an alert on X, warning users to avoid the platform's website until further notice.
The incident was caused by an unknown party hijacking CoW Swap's domain name system (DNS), which is used to direct traffic to the company's website. This type of attack allows hackers to intercept user data and steal cryptocurrency wallet funds.
Fortunately, CoW Swap's underlying smart contracts were not affected by the attack. However, as a precautionary measure, the company decided to pause its backend and APIs while it worked to resolve the issue.
