Spiral and Block Introduce Loupe, AI-Powered Security Scanning Service
Spiral and Block have unveiled Loupe, a free AI-powered security scanning service aimed at securing open-source Bitcoin projects. The service is designed to help maintainers identify vulnerabilities in large code repositories, which can span millions of lines of code and hold billions of dollars in value.
The motivation behind Loupe is the widening security imbalance created by advanced AI systems. While attackers can increasingly use AI to uncover exploits, many open-source bitcoin developers lack equivalent defensive tooling. Spiral and Block argue that this imbalance should not determine Bitcoin's security.
Loupe will function as an AI-assisted reviewer for projects that often lack dedicated security resources. The service will only report vulnerabilities supported by demonstrable test cases to minimize noise and avoid burdening maintainers with unreliable findings.
