Binance Restored in Ethiopia After Regulatory Engagements

Binance has restored access to its platform for users in Ethiopia through state-owned telecom provider Ethio telecom, following successful regulatory engagements with local authorities.

The exchange communicated the update directly to users on Tuesday via an official notice, stating that Binance is now accessible again in Ethiopia via Ethiotel after successful regulatory discussions.

The restoration comes after several weeks of tension in Ethiopia's digital asset space, triggered by a May 2023 directive from the National Bank of Ethiopia declaring Ethiopian Birr-denominated peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions illegal.
