STMicroelectronics has unveiled its ST54M secure mobile chip, designed to meet upcoming quantum-ready security requirements. This advanced single-die solution features a hardware accelerator for post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and integrates NFC, secure element, and eSIM functionality.
The device is aimed at helping smartphone and personal electronics manufacturers prepare for the transition toward PQC while supporting multiple applications on one platform. ST54M supports use cases such as contactless payments, transit ticketing, access control, digital identity, and driving licenses, among others.
The chip has completed certification testing under Common Criteria 2022 EUCC and EMVCo, underscoring its suitability for security-sensitive mobile applications. ST54M sampling is available for customers, with production and certification targeted for July 2026.
