OKX Ventures Acquires Stake in South Korea's Coinone Exchange
OKX Ventures has made a strategic equity investment in Coinone, one of South Korea's five licensed crypto exchanges. As part of this deal, OKX Ventures will acquire a 19.6% stake in the exchange, with Korea Investment & Securities and Com2uS also participating.
The investment, which will give OKX Ventures a direct position in the local market, comes after regulatory approval is secured. This move marks another significant foreign investment in South Korea's crypto sector, following Binance's acquisition of Gopax earlier this year.
OKX Ventures and Korea Investment & Securities will each invest 80 billion Korean won (approximately $53 million) in the deal. Upon completion, they will become joint third-largest shareholders in Coinone, with Com2uS Holdings and its affiliate holding a combined 25% stake.
