Backpack Exchange Unveils Token-Equity Conversion Program

Backpack, a cryptocurrency exchange, is taking an unconventional approach to offering equity to its users. The company plans to release an upcoming token that would allow users to earn equity in the exchange, but with a twist.

The token's conversion property won't be directly attached to the token itself, but rather to an upcoming VIP program on the platform. To become a VIP, users will need to trade on the exchange and use Backpack's services, as well as lock up their tokens for a prolonged period of time.

According to Can Sun, co-founder and Chief Compliance Officer at Backpack, this approach is designed to avoid regulatory issues. However, the company has a backup plan in place, which involves registering the tokens as securities during an anticipated public offering.
