Bitcoin Exposure Risks Due to Poor Wallet Practices
A recent analysis by Glassnode has revealed a significant security concern for the Bitcoin network. The study found that around 4.12 million Bitcoin are exposed to quantum attacks due to poor wallet management practices.
The main causes of this exposure are address reuse and partial spending, which can be avoided through improved wallet strategies.
Cryptocurrency exchanges hold the largest share of these exposed Bitcoins, with Binance and Bitfinex showing the highest levels of exposure. To mitigate this risk without requiring changes to the Bitcoin protocol, users and exchanges can adopt better wallet management practices.
