Resolv Labs USR Stablecoin Suffers Massive Exploit
A recent exploit targeting Resolv Labs' USR stablecoin has raised concerns about the security of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. According to reports, an attacker was able to mint $80 million worth of USR tokens with only $200,000 in funding.
The attack is believed to have been carried out through a flaw in the USR Counter contract's minting logic or a compromised signer. The attacker then dumped the newly minted tokens across various decentralized exchanges (DEXs), including KyberSwap and Velora, collecting over $17 million in USDC and USDT.
Following the incident, the price of USR plummeted by 74%, dropping from its near-$1.00 peg to $0.257 before recovering partially to trade between $0.85 and $0.86. The community has raised questions about the lack of an official statement from Resolv Labs and the need for stronger safeguards around minting contracts.
