Australia Imposes Broad Sanctions on Russia, Targets Key Sectors
Australia has taken a significant step in its efforts to support Ukraine by imposing broad sanctions on Russia, targeting key sectors such as finance, defense, aviation, energy, transport, and technology.
The sanctions package, which is the largest since February 2022, affects over 180 individuals and entities, including energy companies Surgutneftegaz and S7 Airlines, around 50 banks, and several cryptocurrency platforms.
The move aims to reduce the Kremlin's financial resources and complicate fundraising for the war. Cryptocurrencies have been targeted for the first time, with several platforms included in the restrictions.
