Crypto Industry Experiences Consolidation with Over 20 Project Closures

According to recent data, more than 20 cryptocurrency projects have ceased operations in the first quarter of 2026. This development marks a fresh wave of consolidation as market conditions become increasingly challenging.

The closures span various categories, including wallets, exchanges, NFT platforms, and DeFi tools. Several high-profile names are among those that have shut down their services or scaled back their operations.

Notably, Magic Eden has discontinued its wallet and reduced its multi-chain activities to focus on Solana. Leap Wallet has also announced a complete shutdown by the end of May, indicating a permanent exit rather than a pivot.
