The recent shutdown of access to Anthropic's latest AI models by a US order has highlighted the risks of centralized control in AI technology, sparking interest in decentralized alternatives.
Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, stated that this incident underscores the need for decentralized solutions like Bittensor and its TAO token, which offer an alternative vision for AI based on open, global, decentralized networks.
In the 12 hours following Anthropic's decision to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5, Bittensor's TAO token climbed 30% to a three-week high of $283, outperforming the wider crypto market over the past week.
Pandl noted that as AI capabilities improve, governments and AI labs will play an increasingly important role in determining access to these tools and under what conditions, emphasizing the importance of decentralized alternatives for users seeking independence from centralized control.
