Australia Takes Step Towards Clear Crypto Regulations
Australia is moving closer to establishing clear rules for cryptocurrency regulations after a Senate committee backed a proposed law.
The Corporations Amendment (Digital Assets Framework) Bill 2025 aims to create a clearer system for licensing and oversight of companies that manage digital tokens. The bill would require businesses to obtain an Australian Financial Services License and bring them under the supervision of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
According to the Senate committee's report, the bill represents an important step toward modernizing Australia's regulatory framework for digital assets while maintaining strong consumer protections.
