Donald Trump Invests in Bitcoin Mining Company MARA Holdings
Former US President Donald Trump's crypto portfolio has taken a significant turn with his disclosure of an equity position in MARA Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed bitcoin mining and AI infrastructure company.
MARA Holdings, formerly known as Marathon Digital, is one of the largest publicly traded Bitcoin miners. The company's revenue is heavily dependent on its share of global hash rate, network difficulty, and spot price of Bitcoin at the time of sale or valuation.
Trump's equity stake in MARA Holdings marks a significant shift from his previous crypto exposure, which was structured around passive licensing and royalty income. This new move exposes him to the operational risks associated with bitcoin mining, including energy costs and regulatory uncertainty.
