Chainlink CCIP Sees Significant Growth Following LayerZero Exploit
Chainlink CCIP has been gaining momentum as a leading cross-chain infrastructure solution following the recent $292 million exploit of LayerZero.
The exploit, which occurred in April 2026 and involved the draining of 116,500 rsETH from Kelp DAO's LayerZero-powered bridge, has led to an industry-wide migration away from the protocol. Several major DeFi protocols, including Kraken, have switched to Chainlink CCIP for its enterprise-grade security features.
One of the key reasons for this shift is Chainlink CCIP's ability to route transfers through 16 independent node operators, providing a more secure and reliable service. This is particularly important in the context of high-value assets, which require robust protection against potential exploits.
Chainlink CCIP holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications, further demonstrating its commitment to security and compliance. The protocol has supported over $28 trillion in cumulative on-chain transaction value and averages approximately $90 million in weekly token transfers.
