Cardano Climbs Quantum-Ready Rankings as Algorand Takes Top Spot

Cardano has secured second place in a list of quantum-ready blockchains, closely trailing Algorand which leads the pack. According to a Google Quantum AI paper, Cardano's design provides a level of protection against potential attackers through its eUTXO model. This model hides public keys longer than other blockchains, making it more resistant to quantum threats.

While Algorand stands out for having already executed a quantum-resistant transaction in production, Cardano's ranking is impressive given that the platform is considered safe by design. Other projects like Dogecoin, Zcash and Bitcoin Cash also rank alongside Cardano under 'tier 2' - structurally at an advantage compared to other blockchains.

However, some popular networks such as XRP Ledger, Litecoin and Bitcoin fall into a more vulnerable category due to their exposure of public keys. Ethereum and Solana are considered to have the broadest attack surface due to always visible public keys, leaving them potentially exposed to quantum attackers.
