The Ethereum Foundation has announced its priorities for Q1 2026, with a focus on application infrastructure development and security research.
One key area of focus is the integration of Tor technology to enhance user anonymity. This will involve designing and implementing a Tor-based mitigation scheme to improve user privacy and network resilience.
Another important initiative is the advancement of decentralized identity standards, specifically the did:ethr Method Specification. The foundation aims to modernize this specification and improve EVM interoperability, with the goal of achieving DIF Recommended status across the ecosystem.
In addition to these initiatives, the foundation will also be investing in security research, including formal verification of cryptographic protocols and the exploration of new cryptographic primitives. This work is aimed at improving the overall security and resilience of the Ethereum network.
