US Sees 700% Surge in Crypto Payments for Gray-Market Peptides
The United States has seen a significant surge in the use of cryptocurrencies to purchase gray-market peptides. According to Chainalysis, in Q1 2026, gray-market peptide vendors received $32 million in cryptocurrencies, marking a 700% increase from the previous year.
This trend is attributed to the increasing role that cryptocurrency is playing in enabling cross-border commerce for goods. Many vendors have started to accept cryptocurrencies due to concerns about compliance and risk.
Some suppliers in China now only accept Bitcoin. The cost difference between using cryptocurrencies and traditional payment methods has made it 'worth that risk' for many buyers, as noted by one individual who purchased a year's worth of an experimental weight-loss peptide from China.
