Crypto Market Declines with Bitcoin Price Drop and Record Liquidations

The cryptocurrency market has faced a substantial downturn, with Bitcoin's price plummeting to $66,900. This decline has been accompanied by a significant amount of liquidations, totaling $1.8 billion over the last 24 hours.

According to data from Coinglass, long positions accounted for $1.5 billion of these liquidations, while short positions made up the remaining $300 million. Notably, Bitcoin alone was responsible for $846 million of the wiped-out equity.

The decline in the market capitalization of the cryptocurrency sector has also been substantial, contracting to approximately $2.32 trillion over the last 24 hours, marking a 3.5% decrease.
